Ox Herding will emerge next week from a challenging and stimulating period of hibernation. Thank you for hanging in there!
Last weekend I visited an extensive show of work created by Nick Cave, a Chicago-based sculptor and dancer. Cave’s "costumes" extend the human form in ways that force questions of identity and expression, not to mention questions of art.
The short video below gives a sense of the beauty and wonder of these works as they move through space. And they're just as remarkable posed quietly on manikins.
Don't we all want beauty in our lives? Isn't there a part of us willing to go beyond our small notions of identity and acceptible expression in order to experience this wonder?
I look forward to sharing more with you over the coming weeks. Thank you for reading Ox Herding.
