Someone recently asked, "What would happen if you broke one of the Five Precepts?" It's a common enough question.
But isn't it odd that folks rarely seem to ask, "What would happen if you kept one of the Five Precepts?"
The Buddha was pretty clear on this topic. He said that keeping the precepts results in:
Freedom from danger, freedom from animosity, freedom from oppression to limitless numbers of beings.
A person who keeps the precepts:
Gains a share in limitless freedom from danger, freedom from animosity, and freedom from oppression.
Of course, we break the precepts all the time. Sometimes, as revealed in today's video, consequence comes quickly. But - of course - we know that although the video ends, the story's not over. Enjoy!
