In October I spent three weeks teaching at Su Bong Zen Monastery in Hong Kong. Much of that time was at kyol che at Gak Su, the retreat center on Lantau Island where, every year beginning on October 1, the monastery hosts a three-month kyol che retreat. This year's retreat ends tomorrow.
Prior to this trip I was only dimly aware of the retreat at Gak Su. Now, having participated in it, I encourage Kwan Um sangha members from around the world to consider this retreat. Along with kyol che retreats at Diamond Hill Zen Monastery, Wubongsa, and Musangsa, the Gak Su retreat offers authentic Zen training. And it does it in a remarkably beautiful environment, supported by a great staff. It's a very good thing!
