When I think of what makes me happy, my mind immediately goes to some experience: a kiss, a cup of coffee, a visit with a friend, a sunny day.
No wonder I complain a lot. None of these experiences last very long.
A kiss, at least in my world, delivers about 2 seconds of happiness. A macchiato gets me 5 minutes, if I take my time. My friends can stand me for about 2 hours, at best. And a sunny day in Seattle lingers for about 12 hours.
Ah, discontent. The ultimate outcome of attachment to experience.
Reading Barry's latest post, about 30 seconds.

The remote for the a-b car had been buggy for a few months, but I did not worry about it too much as I could still get into the car and all. And heck its really a luxury I'm fairly accustomed too not having. Well, I had a chance to stop by the Chair Force PX (The Marine Corps PX's doesn't seem to cary this type of luxuries on Camp Hansen...) and picked up a new battery. I spent $2.79, less than most people spend on a cup of coffee nowadays, and I get jazzed every time I click the darned thing... Ha! I get a buzz out of just talking about it.

Jordan, I'm so glad to hear that the remote now works. I wonder what the "opposite" of a remote would be - what could we bring to our own life that would be immediate and fully present?

Opposite of "re-mote": de-mote?
:-D

In my household, remote inevitably ends with demote.
In my household, emote sometimes ends with promote.

That's great Barry! Isn't that just the case.

Hmmm. The opposite of remote for me is just turning the key in the lock.
